Stream 2 Skin Cancer and Tumours - Dermatoscopy for Nurses

Topics to be covered in the Certificate Course.

How to use a Dermatoscope
Telediagnosis of Pigmented Skin Lesions

Dermatoscopy is a means of looking into pigmented and non pigmented lesions on the skin surface to view the underlying pigment and vascular structures. These structures and the colours you see can allow you to diagnose a lesion with remarkable certainty when you aquire the knowledge and skill. Remember a pathologist is perhaps commenting on a 3 mm punch biopsy of a lesion while the dermatoscopist is viewing the complete lesion surface.
This short introduction is simply to give you the basic principles of the dermatoscope and point you to websites where you can further your exposure.
